Adding more fuel to the debate over oil costs, antitrust lawyers are warning Capitol Hill that pending legislation aimed at combating price hikes could backfire. The American Bar Association’s Antitrust Section, representing many of the nation’s most experienced and influential antitrust lawyers, wrote a 10-page letter analyzing the Oil and Gas Industry Antitrust Act of 2006 and finding it is “unnecessary” and “may actually negatively impact consumer markets.”
