Christine Daugherty has always had a strong stomach. It helped her when she was a Ph.D. candidate in plant physiology, conducting experiments in a weightless environment, and it helps her in her job heading up IP work at Springdale, Ark.-based meat processor, Tyson Foods. Tyson had nine in-house attorneys when Daugherty came onboard in 2003, but no IP lawyers. In her newly created role, Daugherty manages a portfolio of about 100 patents and 450 trademarks and presides over a new patent licensing venture.
