Scott Hochfelder is general counsel and secretary of KB Toys Inc., which runs about 650 stores in 44 states, Guam and Puerto Rico. Hochfelder is helping the company move forward after emerging from its 2004 bankruptcy. He says his legal department’s greatest challenges include converting its mind-set from “playing defense” as a Chapter 11 debtor to operating more as an “offensive player” and a “profitable player in the retail industry.” And yes, Hochfelder does have toys in his office.
