Altera Corp. patent counsel Elaine Lee says with a laugh that on the rare day she wears a suit to work, the engineers tell her, “Ah, you’re a lawyer, I don’t want to talk to you.” Lee was among about 30 in-house attorneys who eagerly sought advice during a fashion show hosted by a local chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel. Balancing a professional look with a look that says “talk to me” tops the list of fashion concerns for corporate counsel, especially when engineers and CEOs wear shorts.
