Former Enron Chairman Expresses Optimism as Both Sides Rest in Trial

Both the defense and the government cut their witness lineups and rested in the fraud trial of former Enron Chairman Kenneth Lay and former CEO Jeffrey Skilling on Monday, with closing arguments still set for May 15. “It’s a long time coming. I feel good,” Skilling told reporters outside the courthouse after the judge dismissed the jury for the rest of the week. Added Lay: “We feel real good about where we are right now. We think in the end, we’re going to prevail.”
