When Marla Brin finally received the diagnosis that her muscle pain and fatigue were linked to “sick building syndrome” from possible toxins in her former workplace, she sued the building owner. But a judge ruled her suit was time-barred. The D.C. Court of Appeals has reversed that decision in a precedent-setting case that could have wide-ranging implications for toxic-tort cases involving exposure to toxins in the home or workplace that can cause conditions that are difficult to diagnose.
