When Laura Fennell joined Intuit Inc. as GC two years ago, she hit the legal department with a wrecking ball and rebuilt from the ground up. She has now replaced about half the staff of the 25-lawyer department and built an intellectual property practice from scratch. In-house lawyers say the makeover has brought their work to a new level. And outside counsel Gordon Davidson of Fenwick & West says Fennell’s reorganization allows Intuit to do more legal work in-house and has made his work more efficient.
