The securities fraud trial against the former CEO and GC of HBOC — now McKesson Corp. — was never an easy one for the government. The government’s central witnesses were snitches of questionable credibility, and in an earlier bench trial of another executive, a judge found their testimony was not credible enough to convict. So it wasn’t too surprising Friday when a jury acquitted former CEO Charles McCall and ex-GC Jay Lapine of conspiring to commit securities fraud while deadlocking on six other counts.
